Food insecurity is a major obstacle to the wellfare and development of rural areas and if a serious solution is not found, the future of mankind will be in jeopardy. Meanwhile, rural household’s headwomen are more vulnerable than other groups. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to analyze the causes of food insecurity of rural household’s headwomen in Kermanshah and to identify the strategies to deal with it. The research was carried out by descriptive-survey method. Statistical population consisted of rural household’s headwomen in Kermanshah County (N=2215) by which using Krejcie and Morgan sampling table, 235 women were selected as a sample applying multi-stage sampling method. Research Instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire, that its validity was confirmed by a panel of experts and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to assess the reliability (α=0.79-0.84). The results showed that about 85% of women suffer from food insecurity. The results also revealed that increasing the number of family members, and the cost of clothing and transportation increases food insecurity. Food insecurity has decreased by increasing literacy. Based on the results, doing extra work is the most important local strategy used by women to deal with food insecurity.sustainable employment and income was the most important necessary strategy to combat food insecurity.Therefore, by providing sustainable employment opportunities and income through education and empowerment of rural household’s headwomen, the severity of food insecurity in this group of society can be reduced.Keywords: Food security, Household’s Headwomen, Rural poverty, Food insecurity.

In many developed countries and developing countries, agriculture is not the only source of employment and income for rural households. Income from non-agricultural activities is also very important. The present study is conducted with the aim to investigate the effect of non-farm income on household food security. The aim of the present study based on its objective is applied research and method of application is descriptive – analytical while the research population is the rural villages of the Fazl township. The number of samples to complete the questionnaire was determined using a sample of 304 households. The questionnaires were filled in a systematic sampling method for calculating the level of food security and the food insecurity scale and standardization calories is used. Classification of food security in rural households shows that 56.9 percent of households suffer from with food insecurity, food insecurity without hunger is 30.3 percent, 11.5 percent and 1.3 percent of households with moderate food insecurity with hunger and food insecurity with hunger are severe. The following classification is based on a basket of commodities for household food security in the rural study and it shows that 40.79 percent of the respondents have food security and 59.21 percent suffer from food insecurity.

The main purpose of the present study is to measure the food insecurity status of the Bawi Township in the Khuzestan province. This is a cross sectional descriptive study. The population used in this study included all of the rural families in the central part of the Bawi district. Among them, 198 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. Data was collected by using the Radimer-Cornel questionnaire. The results revealed that in total only 12 percent of the respondents were food secure and 87 percent experienced on of the forms of food insecurity such as food insecurity without hunger, with medium hunger and with serious hunger. The results also showed that the highest frequency was related to food insecure without hunger. The results showed that women are in a more food insecure situation than men. Also, the educational level of the heads of households led to a difference in the household's food insecurity. In addition, the results showed that income entered the regression equation of factors affecting household food insecurity and determined 29% of the variation of the variance of the dependent variable.
